ATHE Level 4 Health and Social Care Management
Programme overview:
The ATHE Level 4 Extended Diploma in Management for Health and Social Care is a 120 credit Ofqual regulated qualification and is the equivalent level to the 2nd year of a bachelor’s degree. This qualification has been designed for learners who are seeking to progress to university to take a bachelor’s degree course in an area of management within the Healthcare Sector.
Programme Structure
The ATHE level 4 Extended Diploma consist of four core mandatory units. There are three or four optional units in this qualification. To be awarded the ATHE level 5 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care Management learners must achieve a minimum of a Pass in all units:

Module Description
Health and Social Care in Context
To develop an understanding of a health and/or social care area in which students would like to work.
Communication Skills for Health & Social Care Management
The aim of this unit is to develop knowledge and understanding of communication both with colleagues in health and social care organisations and with service users. Learners will gain an understanding of why communication is sometimes ineffective, and the skills needed to overcome difficulties.
People in Organisations
This unit aims to develop knowledge and understanding of those aspects of organisations that concern and support people.
Managing Sustainability in an Organisation
To develop he knowledge, skills and techniques to be able to identify sustainability issues within an organisation and to put in place suitable management systems for legal compliance and corporate responsibility purposes.
Management of Health and Social Care Provision
To be an effective manager in health and social care requires a need to supervise and manage provision and lead and support others. This unit will develop student’s knowledge, skills and understanding of the role of a manager in managing provision and practice in health and social care in ways that continually improve what is delivered.
Resource Management
The aim of this unit is to provide an overview of the human and physical resources needed in a range of organisations, including those in the primary, service and manufacturing sectors, and provide an understanding of the impact of efficiency on the organisations..
Contemporary Issues in Health and Social Care
To develop the research skills on how contemporary issues of public concern relating to health and social care are identified and presented in the public domain.
Empowering Users of Health and Social Care Services
To develop an understanding of how through the design and review of legislative and management systems, providers can empower service users in promoting their individual rights of participation and independence..
Entry Criteria:
- Age: 17 +
- A GCE Advanced level profile with achievement in 2 or more subjects supported by 5 or more GCSEs at grades C and above or grades 4-9
- Other related level 3subjects
- An Access to Higher Education Certificate delivered by an approved further education institute and validated by an Access Validating Agency
- Other equivalent international qualifications
English Language: IELTS or Anglia Examination level B2 or above. Min 5.5 in each component.
