ATHE Level 3 Health and Social Care

Programme overview:

The ATHE Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care is a 60-credit qualification and is the equivalent level to an A Level or Access to HE qualification. It has been designed for learners who wish to progress to a health and social care degree but may not have the traditional entry qualifications usually required.

The qualification aims to provide learners with the underpinning knowledge and understanding of a range of topics within the Health and Social Care environment. These topics will allow learners to develop practical and theoretical approaches to solving problems and finding solutions using Information and Health and Social Care

Programme Structure

The ATHE level 3 Diploma consist of six core mandatory units. There are no optional units in this qualification. To be awarded the ATHE level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care learners must achieve a minimum of a Pass in all units:

  • Credit Value: 60 credits
  • Mode of Study: Online Blended Learning
  • Assessment: Assignment 
  • Overall Grading Type: Pass, Merit, Distinction 
  • Duration: One Year
  • Fees: £4500 

Module Description

Structure and Overview of the Health and Social Care Sector

This unit aims to develop an understanding of the health and social care sector, its aims and purpose and the organisations that provide health and social care along with an awareness of current issues impacting the sector in a chosen country.

Principles, Values and Regulation in the Health and Social Care Sector

This unit aims to develop knowledge of the principles and values, and the legislation, regulations and guidance that underpin work in the health and social care sector in a chosen country.

Human Growth and Development

This unit aims to develop an understanding of different areas of growth and development, and how each development area has an impact on the other.

Working in Health and Social Care

This unit aims to develop an understanding of the key features involved in delivering safe and consistent services in health and social care.

Research in Health and Social Care

This unit aims to develop essential academic and research skills required for working in the health and social care sector and to be able to formally present academic research findings, written and orally.

Personal and Professional Development in the Health and Social Care Sector

This unit aims to develop the skills and knowledge required to plan and implement own personal and professional development for further study or work in the health and social care sector and for future reflective practice.

Entry Criteria:

Age: 16 +

Academic Criteria:  5 or more GCSEs at grades C and above

∙other related level 2 subjects

∙other equivalent international qualifications

English Language: IELTS or Anglia Examination level B2 or above. Min 5.0 in each component.
